A private special needs school in El Dorado Hills is closing its doors Friday after the death of one of their students last year.
The Guiding Hands School is surrendering its Nonpublic Schools Certification after 25 years in operation. Guiding Hands was decertified by the California Board of Education earlier this month.
Max Benson died while being restrained by staff during a violent outburst. Benson had autism and was just 13-years-old.
The school had about 120 special needs students.
