SPD Chief Reacts To California AG Use of Force Recommendations

SPD Chief Daniel Hahn talks department use of force policies following recommendations for changes by the California Department of Justice.

Police Chief Daniel Hahn is responding to the recommendations for change at the Sacramento Police Department outlined in a new report released by California Attorney General Xavier Becerra. The report comes after last year's deadly shooting of Stephon Clark.

The AG's office released a report on Tuesday detailing close to 40 recommendations. They focus on several areas including use of force training and practices, improving de-escalation techniques, and fostering better community engagement.

Clark's family this week filed a 20-million-dollar wrongful death lawsuit against the city and the officers. Sacramento police wrapped-up its investigation last October, and the Department of Justice turned in its results about two weeks ago.
