Bay Area Chef Apologizes For Anti-MAGA Hat Tweets

Kenji Lopez-Alt of Wursthall restaurant in San Mateo has deleted the tweets that said he would refuse to serve anyone wearing a Make America Great Again hat.

A Bay Area restaurant owner is apologizing for his anti-MAGA hat tweets after getting major blowback.

Kenji Lopez-Alt of Wursthall restaurant in San Mateo has deleted the tweets that said he would refuse to serve anyone wearing a Make America Great Again hat, comparing them to swastikas and white hoods.

In a statement posted this morning on the website Medium , he says he intended to communicate the anger, hate and violence he has seen connected to the MAGA hats, but he says the tweets ended up amplifying it. They also led to a flood of negative reviews of Wursthall on Yelp.

Lopez-Alt now says he will serve all customers as long as they leave hate and anger outside the door.
