Accused Newman Cop Killer's Case On Hold

The man accused of shooting and killing a Newman, California police officer last year will return to court on April 8th. Paulo Mendoza was in court on Thursday morning, but the case was suspended until all sides can review the results of a mental health exam.

Mendoza remains in the Stanislaus County Jail for the murder of Corporal Ronil Singh.

The judge will determine if Mendoza is mentally fit to stand trial, but his defense attorney has previously expressed concern that his client does not understand the charges against him.
