The annual ritual of putting the new sticker on the right side of your rear license plate could become an every-other-year ritual. State Senator Jim Beall (D-San Jose) is proposing California switch to two-year vehicle registrations as one way of cutting DMV wait times. DMV officials will give their input to SB 460 at the Capitol on March 12.
One possible stumbling block to the plan is the impact on the average driver's wallet from having to pay for two years' registration instead of one.
