Michelin Guide To Expand Beyond SF And Napa, Include Sacramento

The prestigious Michelin Guide will expand its restaurant "star" rankings to beyond San Francisco and the Napa Valley. The Guide will now cover the entire state and include Sacramento, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego. The new California edition will be out in June. San Francisco tops the nation with the most Michelin three-star restaurants at eight.

Visit Sacramento Chief Executive Officer Mike Testa believes this is a measure of respect few other U.S. cities have seen.

"If you look at the cities they are in in the United States that's pretty impressive company Sacramento is joining," Testa told KFBK.

"They will look to put a book out in June of this year, " said Testa. He also noted that Michelin's inspectors have already been through Sacramento. "We don't which restaurants they've been through, we don't know who or if anybody will earn stars."
