Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg is calling for an investigation into Monday's protest arrests. A total of 84 people were arrested Monday night while marching through East Sacramento after it was announced no charges will be filed against two police officers who shot and killed Stephon Clark. Police Chief Daniel Hahn says there will be an investigation the arrests.
At the same time the US Attorney's Office and the FBI say they will open federal investigations into the Stephon Clark shooting. Both the California Attorney General and Sacramento County DA have cleared the two Sacramento police officers of any criminal charges. The feds say they will examine whether the shooting violated Clark's federal civil rights. They'll review state and local investigations and will take any additional investigative steps if warranted.
