Extreme CA Wildfires Lead To Extreme Overtime

Cal Fire's overtime budget is skyrocketing thanks to the intensity of fire seasons. Reportedly firefighters earned more than 200-million-dollars in overtime pay last year.

Overall Cal Fire salaries were 12-percent higher than 2017.

Officials say they don't have the staffing levels to meet the demand where fire crews can often spend weeks at a time on large wildfires.

Governor Newsom wants to allocate another 95-million-dollars to Cal Fire's budget to hire more personell and buy more equipment.
