Oversight Commission Supports Use Of Force Bill

The Sacramento Police Review Commission is recommending the city's support for an assembly bill that would restrict police officers' use of deadly force.

AB 392 would require officers to use greater restraint and consider deadly force only as a necessary and last resort option.

The commission is recommending the city adopt the stricter standard for its officers although the bill is still under consideration in the legislature.

The Sacramento Police Officers Association opposes AB 392.
