Most Bay Area Residents Slam Region's Quality Of Life

A new poll says nearly two-thirds of Bay Area residents think the region's quality of life is deteriorating and nearly half plan to leave eventually. The booming economy and pleasant climate aren't enough to offset the primary complaints, including the high cost of living, jammed traffic and growing homelessness.

Sixty-five-percent say conditions have grown worse over the last five-years and 44-percent have plans to move away in the next few years.

The survey of about 15-hundred registered voters focused on Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, San Mateo and San Francisco counties.

It was conducted by the Bay Area News Group and the Silicon Valley Leadership Group.
