Yuba City Cold Case Murder Suspect Arrested

Police in Yuba City reportedly say they used DNA evidence to track down a suspect in the brutal 2013 murder of 94-year-old Leola Lucille Shreves in her own home.

29-year-old Armando Aryas Cuadras of Yuba City was arrested Wednesday, according information obtained by The Sacramento Bee.

The Yuba City Police Department said Wednesday that evidence recovered from Shreves home contained blood from somebody other than Shreves, but detectives were unable to make the connection to Cuadras until now.

It was Shreves next-door neighbor who was sent to prison for more than three years following an alleged confession.

Cuadras is now waiting for a court appearance in the Sutter County Jail and is being held without bail. It's not known at this point if he has selected an attorney or if one has been appointed to represent him.
