LGBTQ Homeless Shelter To Open In Sacramento

Evictions Start At Sacramento's Tent City

A homeless shelter specifically designed to serve the LGBTQ homeless population is set to open in Sacramento. The 12-bed facility will be located near 21st and P streets.

The Sacramento Bee says 18-to-24-year-olds will be able to stay at the shelter and receive services for up to 90-days.

City councilman Steve Hansen, who is the first openly gay member on the Sacramento City Council, says the city needs to do more to serve what he calls a vulnerable group within the homeless community.
