You May Have Been Exposed To Measles If You Passed Through LAX

The measles continues to spread in California, and doctors are warning of an even bigger outbreak nationwide.

"We're going to expect to see the number of measles cases go up to record numbers in this calendar year, and health care providers and health care officials are going to be dealing with this disease for years to come," Doctor David Michalik of St. Mary's Medical Center in Long Beach.

That prediction coming after officials said a passenger at Los Angeles International Airport may have exposed people to the measles virus in terminals 7 and 8 on April 3rd. Bottom line - make sure your kids get their shots.

Doctor Michalik added that the measles virus spreads quickly.

"Someone could be shedding the virus for approximately one to two weeks before they get symptoms and then also for days after the symptoms resolve."
