San Francisco's Homeless Population Hits 8,000

The Department of Homelessness in San Francisco has released new figures, and it shows a rise by over 500 people, to over 8,000 homeless, currently.

That's a big increase of between 6.8 and 16.8 percent, from two years ago.

Director of the Department of Homelessness Jeff Kositsky said, "While I am pleased that we saw reductions in Veteran and youth homelessness, we are saddened that there are more people living without housing in San Francisco."

San Francisco Mayor London Breed says she will commit more money, another $5 million in “homelessness prevention investments” in her budget plan.
