Texas Republican Holds Up Wildfire Disaster Relief For California

California will have to wait at least another week before seeing any wildfire relief money, thanks to a single Texas Congressman. Republican Chip Roy is objecting to the 19-billion-dollar disaster relief package passed by the Senate 85-to-8 yesterday afternoon, after the House had already adjourned for the holiday. House rules allow passing bills without members being present, but the vote must be unanimous.

The Senate bill includes more than 12-billion-dollars in relief for California wildfires over the last two years. Roy says he objects because it doesn't include corresponding budget cuts or money for a southern border wall.
