Illegal Alien Arrested In Fatal Sutter County DUI Crash Facing Gun Charges

The Mexican national said to be in the United States illegally when he allegedly killed three people in Sutter County while driving drunk has now been indicted for having guns.

33-year-old Ismael Huazo-Jardinez is being held in the Sacramento County jail without bail on manslaughter and drunken driving charges, but on Thursday additional charges were filed after he was indicted for being an illegal alien in possession of fire arms, according to U.S. Attorney McGregor Scott in Sacramento.

The drunk driving and manslaughter charges stem from the deaths of Jose and Anna Pacheco, who were killed on May 4th when Huazo-Jardinez allegedly was speeding under the influence on State Route 113, failed to navigate a curve in the road, and slammed his Chevy Avalanche into their mobile home. The Pacheco's 10-year-old son, Angel, was in the mobile home at the time, and he was also killed. His 11-year-old sister was seriously injured but survived.

It wasn't until later when investigators were at a Marysville towing yard to search the truck that a gun was reportedly found inside the center console. That gun was reported stolen in Boise, Idaho, back in 2017, according court documents.

The investigators said a subsequent search of the home where Huazo-Jardinez was living turned up another gun that was registered to someone other than him in Colusa County. The second gun did not show up in a theft database, but they believe it was stolen.
