CA Wildlife Center Creates Prosthetic Leg For Owl

A California wildlife center is making headlines for creating what is believed to be the first ever prosthetic leg for a burrowing owl.

Officials with Lindsay Wildlife Experience in Walnut Creek said the prospects are good for the one-legged female owl thanks to a first-of-its-kind creation. Engineers are still perfecting the prosthetic, but wildlife officials are confident their eight-year-old patient will be strutting on two legs in the coming months.

The owl was likely injured in an animal attack at a Southern California zoo.
