Kitten Adoption Now Easier In California

Governor Gavin Newsom has signed a new bill passed by the Legislature that will make it easier to adopt kittens in California.

The law allows kittens under eight-weeks-old to be adopted from animal shelters, like the Sacramento SPCA, and it also waives a mandatory six-day waiting period for stray cats, according to a report by the Sacramento Bee.

Cats given up by their owner are now eligible for immediate adoption.

Proponents say it's best to move kittens out of shelters as they are more vulnerable to infection or disease.
