Former Elk Grove High School Teacher Convicted Of Sex Crimes

A former Elk Grove high school teacher is facing nine years in prison following his conviction on sex related charges involving three teenage girls at the school.

Monte Reed was a widely known and well liked teacher at Cosumnes Oaks High School in Elk Grove. Reed also served as a freshman football and basketball coach.  However, prosecutors said he started a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old female students from his honors class in 2016. Evidence presented at trial showed the two engaged in sex acts in Reed’s classroom before, during, and after school. The relationship continued over the 2016 summer break.

In April 2017, the girl told some close friends about what was going on with Reed. They tried to get her to tell an adult, be she ignored their advice.  That's when the friends decided to talk to a trusted teacher at at the school.

An investigation was launched after that teacher reported what he had been. During the investigation, several other girls reported inappropriate sexual touching and comments made to them by Reed.

Prosecutors said he told one of those other girls that he would “like to get in trouble” with her. They also told the court Reed said to a third girl that she was "his forbidden fruit."

Reed was ultimately charged and convicted for two counts of unlawful sex with a minor, three counts of oral copulation with a minor, two counts of penetration with a foreign object with a minor, and two counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a 14 and 15 year old, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney.

He is due to be sentenced in September.
