The California Highway Patrol held a bell ringing ceremony to honor fallen officer Andre Moyer, Jr. at the CHP Academy in West Sacramento. Commissioner Warren Stanley announced Moyer's end of watch this morning.
"Officer Moyer was 34-years-old and a member of the department for almost three years," the commissioner said before those gathered for the ceremony. Moyer graduated from the CHP academy in West Sacramento in 2017.
Moyer was shot and killed on Monday after making a traffic stop, when the driver of the vehicle grabbed a rifle and began shooting at Moyer and other officers. Even though Moyer was mortally wounded, he somehow managed to call for help.
