Ford Issues Recall For Malfunctioning Seat Belts

Possible Ford Explorer Recall Impacts U.S. Police Departments

Ford is recalling over 108,000 mid sized vehicles to fix a problem where the seat belts are not restraining passengers in an accident.

The recall covers Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ cars from the model year of 2015. Reports say the cables that tighten seat belts upon impact can be weakened from heat, causing the seat belts to not tighten during a crash. So far, Ford has been made aware of 1 injured person from this problem.

Recalled vehicles are to be returned to the dealers where they will apply a protective coating on the cables to prevent them from weakening. Owners will be notified starting Sept. 9.
