Payroll Problem Results In No Check, Missing Money For Sacramento Woman

A Sacramento woman says she's out one paycheck and a whole lot of cash from her bank account after a huge payroll issue that is reportedly affecting thousands of people in Northern California and around the country.

Angelina Nieves was shocked to find her account was hit with a debit reversal fee and overdraft fee of over four-hundred dollars. A payroll deposit was made to that account the next day, but that money wasn't enough to cover what had been deducted. Nieves works for 24/7 MedStaff, and she did some digging afterwards. She found her employer's cloud-based payroll company, MyPayrollHR in New York, ceased operations last week and stiffed other workers at thousands of companies.

A financial service that was supposed to send money to employees' bank accounts were making withdrawals instead.

Authorities have not said when or if the money will be returned, but the U.S Department of Labor says it's ready to step in if the problem isn't fixed quickly.

The FBI is investigating the incident. If you believe you were affected by MyPayrollHR shutdown they are asking you to email MyPayrollHRVictims@fbi.gov.
