South Yuba River turns yellow-no swim advisory in effect

The South Yuba River has turned yellow in Nevada County, and officials have deemed it unsafe for swimming and recreation, because of it.

Nevada County Environmental Health officials said in a statement that the river “appears to have high level of sediments of unknown origin suspended in the water creating potentially unsafe river conditions for all people and animals."

It's a mystery as to what has caused this. Officials have taken samples of water from near the town of Washington to Englebright Lake and hope to have test results back in the next few days.
