Mayor Responds To Yolo County Deputies Dumping Of Homeless Man In Sacto

After a video of a homeless man being dropped off in Sacramento by Yolo County Sheriff deputies recently surfaced, Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg said every jurisdiction needs to do its part to address the issue of homelessness.

Yolo County Sheriff Tom Lopez responded to the incident by saying the deputies were acting in good faith by taking the man where he wanted to go. Steinberg says their first instinct should have been to connect the man to appropriate services. The Mayor claims this isn't the first time he's heard that homeless people are being dropped off in Sacramento.

Sheriff Lopez has also declined to release audio and video from the call for service, but invited Steinberg to review both. Since then, Public Safety News has released the video and audio.
