Contra Costa County fire officials say it's too early to tell what caused yesterday's explosion and fire at an East Bay storage facility.
An assessment team moved into the NuStar Energy facility in Crockett at first light Wednesday morning. Officials say two tanks containing 250-thousand-gallons of ethanol were completely destroyed and they're checking a third for possible structural damage.
The blast at about 2:00 p.m. yesterday shook buildings, forced residents to shelter-in-place and shutdown nearby Interstate 80 for seven-hours. However, the only reported injury was to one refinery firefighter, who was treated and released.
