Pelosi Claims Trump Meltdown, Walks Out Of White House Meeting On Syria

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats are describing their first face-to-face meeting with President Trump since the impeachment inquiry began as a "meltdown."

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer both said the President treated Pelosi disrespectfully, and the alleged the President called her "a third-rate politician" during the meeting.

Trump met with Congressional leaders on Wednesday afternoon at the White House to discuss his decision to pull American troops out of Syria. Hoyer said Trump delivered a diatribe. Pelosi said the President was shaken by an overwhelming bipartisan House vote to condemn his action.

Some Republicans in Congress are openly condemning Trump's decision, and the House voted by an overwhelming 354-60 to officially disapprove of the troop pullback. 129 of the 189 House Republicans voted in favor of the nonbinding measure.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California and the House's two other leading GOP members were among those voting in opposition to the withdrawal. However, McCarthy was highly critical of Pelosi's behavior during the White House meeting. He claimed Pelosi was motivated by political motives, specifically the impeachment inquiry into Trump's phone call with his Ukrainian counterpart. It was during that call this past summer that Democrats say Mr. Trump pressured the president of Ukraine to investigate Democrat presidential hopeful Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, and Biden family dealings in that country.
