Placer County prosecutors say a man facing charges for allegedly murdering four of his relatives in committed the killings over the course of a week and across two Northern California counties.
During a scheduled arraignment hearing on Wednesday prosecutors said 53-year-old Shankar Hangud killed two relatives on October 7th and a third family member the next day at his apartment in Roseville.
The fourth killing happened Sunday, October 13th in Siskiyou County. That's where Hangud reportedly drove about 260 miles to a Mount Shasta police station with the body of the last victim in his car and confessed to the killings, according to authorities.
Hangud's arraignment was postponed until October 25th, and during the Wednesday hearing he first refused a public defender but changed his mind after consulting with the judge.
After the data specialist gave himself up to Mount Shasta police, they contacted police in Roseville. It was shortly after that call that the first three victims were found inside the Roseville apartment.
