SF Neighborhood Increases Street Washing Program To Deal With Human Waste

The Tender Loin Community Benefit District in San Francisco says they are increasing their sidewalk power washing schedule from once every month to once a week.

The change comes after complaints were received about large amounts of animal and human feces on the streets and sidewalks, according to Fox News report. Reportedly this will come at an additional cost of $260,000 for the year. KPIX-TV also reports that the 30 square block neighborhood continues to struggle with a large homeless population.

The TLCBD cleaning program is in addition to the San Francisco Public Works Department's effort to hose off and even steam clean the streets, says a KRON-4 report.

San Francisco Mayor London Breed is also extending the staffing for public restrooms meant to prevent people from using the streets to relieve themselves. One of those three restrooms is located in the Tender Loin District, but the mayor is being encouraged to open more of them to reduce the number of "Code Brown" calls to Public Works to deal with human wasted on area sidewalks.
