Happy 98th Birthday to Betty White! Here are some of her career highlights

Happy Birthday to Betty White, who turns 98 today!

Betty, who was born in the Chicago area on January 17, 1922, has a TV career that dates back to "Life With Elizabeth" in 1952, which was filmed live as it aired nationally because, as she put it in her memorable SNL appearance nearly ten years ago, "back then we didn't know how to tape things." Yes, her SNL appearance was nearly 10 years ago, on May 8, 2010. At the time, she joked about being 88 1/2 years old, which now seems young for her, right? She got on SNL because of a Facebook campaign and she noted in her monologue, "to be honest, I didn't know what Facebook was. But now that I do know what it is, it seems like a huge waste of time."

White is also known for game show appearances - she was even the first woman to receive an Emmy award for Outstanding Game Show Host, which she won for a show called "Just Men!" in 1983. She had many memorable roles on shows, including "Mary Tyler Moore," "The Golden Girls," "Boston Legal," and "Hot In Cleveland." She's won eight Emmys overall, plus one Grammy award. She tore it up at the Comedy Central Roast of William Shatner in 2006. She's an honorary forest ranger, having been given that honor by the USDA Forest Service in 2010. She co-hosted the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1968, She's still the oldest person to have ever hosted "Saturday Night Live," and probably the oldest person to make out with Bradley Cooper on television. She says her favorite things are vodka and hot dogs ("probably in that order", she said.)

She's enjoying a lower-key birthday this year vs. last year, and we hope she thoroughly enjoys her day and the years to come!
