Speaker Nancy Pelosi says Democrats lost some battles, but "won the war" in the battle for the House in this week's elections.
She held a post-election briefing and said, "We held the House." Many House Democrats are angry about losing seats in this week's election. Dems had been expected to add seats to their majority. A number of House races are unresolved. Pelosi will seek another term as Speaker. She said she respects the diversity and differing viewpoints in the House Democratic Caucus, calling it a "wonderful dynamism."
Pelosi said she would not want to lead a "rubber stamp, lock-step caucus." She accused Republicans of following that path. Pelosi called it a happy time, noting the strong performance of former VP Joe Biden in the presidential race. She expects Biden to be projected as President-elect very soon. Democrats are also falling short in their efforts to flip control of the Senate.
