Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones Has Tested Positive For COVID-19

Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones received positive test results for COVID-19 yesterday, according a spokesman for the SCSO. Jones was reportedly tested after experiencing symptoms associated with the virus late last week. It's believed he was exposed in the workplace to an employee whom that later tested positive.

Jone's symptoms started last Friday and were mild, including a fever, congestion, light-headedness, and a headache, according to Sergeant Rod Grassmann. The Sheriff started feeling better Sunday morning, and he currently claims to have almost no remaining symptoms. However, he said he's following the recommendations of health officials and is in quarantine. His entire immediate family has been tested and is awaiting results, and will also be quarantining.

Grassman noted that the Sheriff is only one of dozens of SCSO employees who have contracted the virus in the line of duty-- they are considered essential workers. He insisted that SCSO personnel are following rigorous safety protocols.
