Dozens of student families in the Natomas Unified School District are struggling due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Social workers with the district identified at least two dozen families in need of housing or are on the verge of homelessness this holiday season. A board meeting was called last night to discuss the issue of students in need of emergency housing.
The board unanimously voted to adopt a resolution that would allow the Superintendent to use district funds to help find temporary shelter for those families. The Natomas School Foundation has also set up a GoFundMe page for students and families in need of extra support.
