Members of the House and Senate will meet to ratify the results of the presidential election tomorrow.
Joe Biden won the presidential election with 306 electoral votes while President Trump secured 232 electoral votes. Congressional ratification is normally a formality, but a group of Republicans will challenge the results in several battleground states. Each challenge will prompt up to two hours of debate in the House and Senate, followed by votes in each chamber. Votes in the House are significantly longer than usual due to coronavirus restrictions.
The GOP election challenges are not expected to affect the result of the presidential election.
