The Sacramento City Council will decide whether to develop a city-wide master plan to reduce homelessness later today.
If passed, the council will spend the next few months holding a series of workshops, engaging in community outreach and reviewing potential sites. Once the plan is complete, the council will vote again this summer on whether or not to implement the finalized master plan. Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg will also ask the council to approve restarting a $100 million bond to build affordable housing and permanent supportive housing in the city.
