A Sacramento man is accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from California's Employment Development Department.
Prosecutors have filed new charges against Walter Lee Dawson after a total of nine EDD debit cards were issued to different names and about 20 EDD documents to various people were also discovered. Investigators say Dawson stole about $219,000 from the EDD cards. He was arrested early last month after a probation compliance check uncovered a gun with no serial number, $58,000 in cash and drugs. Dawson is now facing nine new felony counts of EDD fraud.
