Number of Infected COVID-19 Inmates Doubles In A Week At Sac County Jail

The number of inmates infected with COVID-19 at an Elk Grove jail has more than doubled in a week.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office reported yesterday that 159 inmates at the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center have tested positive for the virus, which was an increase from 58 infected inmates reported on December 30. That's when the sheriff's office announced they would temporarily halt all social visits to inmates at the center. No deaths related to the virus have been reported at the facility.
