Google is donating $250,000 dollars to cover DACA program applications for over 500 immigrants.
DACA refers to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which provides deportation protections for undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S. as children. Google is making the donation to the immigration nonprofit United We Dream. Google's chief legal officer Kent Walker says the coronavirus pandemic has taken a financial toll on Dreamers and the company wants to help. Walker says the company will also push for comprehensive immigration reform after President elect Joe Biden is sworn in.
