California Lawmaker Introduces Tax-Free Back-To-School Shopping

A California lawmaker is hoping to cut the cost of back-to-school shopping for California families.

Newly elected Assemblyman Carlos Villapudua from Stockton introduced a bill that would establish a tax-free back-to-school shopping week before the school year. That means clothes, shoes, school supplies and some electronics would not be taxed before the school year begins. If passed, the bill would go into effect in 2022.
