Drugmaker Eli Lilly reports its antibody treatment lowers the chances of developing severe coronavirus infections in nursing home residents.
It found in an internal and unpublished study the treatment lowered the risk of being infected by the virus by 80%. About 300 people took part in the study, half of them receiving a placebo. In the more than three dozen cases where residents that received the treatment tested positive for COVID-19, there were no deaths. There were four deaths in the placebo group.
