A California utility company has agreed to pay a $1 billion settlement for a deadly wildfire sparked by its equipment in 2018.
Southern California Edison will pay $2.2 billion to settle insurance claims from the Woolsey Fire. The utility says the agreement covers all claims in pending lawsuits from insurance companies related to the blaze. The Woolsey Fire charred 151 square miles of Los Angeles and Ventura counties, killed three people and destroyed over 1,600 homes.
