Border wall construction in South Texas is at a standstill. Laiken Jordahl with the Center for Biological Diversity says contractors were formally notified by the Department of Homeland Security to pause all work this week.
Texas Border Congressman Henry Cuellar issued a statement calling it a promising step. He said the border wall was wasteful spending and said it is now time to undo the damage that borderlands have experienced these past four years. He sent a letter to the White House, calling on President Biden to rescind the national emergency declaration and re-route the funding to pay for technology at the border.
