California is moving forward today to provide rent relief for millions of tenants.
Governor Gavin Newsom announced the COVID-19 moratorium that protected hard-hit Californians from eviction will now be extended all the way through June, instead of expiring this month. A new bill in the California legislature would create a rent subsidy program with the help of $2.6 billion in federal stimulus funds. If approved, tenants harmed by COVID-19 could stay in their homes or apartments by paying 25% of what they owe in rent each month.
