CA Judge Orders Public Union To Stop Email Search For Anti-Union Messages

A judge rules against a state public union for improperly requesting to read employee emails.

Administrative Law Judge Alicia Clement sided with the plaintiffs that the International Union of Operating Engineers' public request for emails had to stop because the search was inappropriate. Three employees at the Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito & Vector Control District said the union was fishing for anti-union emails and had violated their privacy rights. Union officials did not comment on the ruling.
