Sutter Cuts 200 Positions Amid Restructuring Process

Sacramento-based Sutter Health is cutting roughly 200 positions from its non-clinical workforce amid its restructuring process.

In a statement, company leaders announced the layoffs and explained the hospital system is looking at ways to "eliminate variation, align resources and become more efficient with our indirect costs" so they can better serve their patients and communities. Sutter spokesperson Amy Thoma Tan did add fewer people may actually lose jobs since some of them will be moved to fill positions in departments that have higher demand. The company did, however, say the cuts may not be the only layoffs this year.
