Even as recall efforts are mounting, the approval rating for Governor Newsom's COVID-19 response is leaning in his favor, according to the The Public Policy Institute of California.
Rachel Lawler is a survey analyst at the PPIC, and she says his highest approval rating was at the beginning of the pandemic. While the ratings have dropped as the pandemic rages on, Lawler notes it will have to take a lot lower of an approval rating and higher disapproval rating to successfully vote out Newsom in a recall election.
