Several California business leaders are calling on Governor Gavin Newsom to reopen schools safely and immediately to provide in-person learning for students.
Advocates like Maria Salinas with the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce say school closures are hurting both the business community and families. Salinas and others spoke during a morning press conference to urge state leaders to reopen to help repair some of the economic damage caused by the pandemic. Newsom says vaccines for teachers and school staff are a priority, but a lack of supply means not everyone will receive one before the end of the school year.
