The average monthly rent in the Sacramento area is rising faster than in other parts of the country.
Data from Newmark shows an 8.4% rise since the pandemic started in March last year. As more companies transition to remote work, many employees moved from the Bay Area to Sacramento in search of more square footage. The migration contributed to low vacancy rates, high rents, and very little new construction to meet housing demands. Average rents in Sacramento are around $1,800. Elk Grove is slightly over $2,000, and Davis is more than $2,100. Woodland is the cheapest, at $1,086 a month.
