Health officials across the state are calling on California to release COVID-19 vaccination data by demographics.
Los Angeles County Department of Public Health's Chief Science Officer Dr. Paul Simon says officials are aware people in under-served communities aren't getting the COVID-19 vaccine at the same rate as those in affluent communities, but they're struggling to understand how large the gap is without that data. Other health officials say California is too focused on the speed of vaccine rollout and is overlooking where distribution falls short. With several communities of color disproportionately affected by COVID-19, the CDC says tracking the number of people in those communities is critical.
