California has passed another grim statistic amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
New numbers from Johns Hopkins University shows the Golden State has surpassed New York's total number of deaths due to COVID-19. 45,496 Californians have died from the virus, with New York's total number of deaths standing at 45,312 on Thursday. This comes as Governor Gavin Newsom tweeted that California has administered more than 5 million COVID-19 vaccines.
