Kristin Smart Case Person Of Interest Arrested On Weapons Charges

The main person of interest in the 1996 disappearance of Kristin Smart has been arrested on felony weapons charges. Paul Flores was arrested in Rancho Palos Verdes Thursday, outside of Los Angeles, and has since been released on bond. The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's office said the arrest is based on evidence gathered after search warrants were served at Flores' San Pedro home last year. Those search warrants were a part of the case investigating Kristin Smart's disappearance, but the Sheriff's office declined to comment on if the arrest was connected. Kristin Smart, originally from Stockton, was a college student at California Polytechnic State University when she disappeared on May 25th heading home from a fraternity party. Witnesses say Smart was last seen walking home with Flores. He has never been officially called a suspect or arrested in direct connection to the case, however has faced many lawsuits from the Smart family. Flores,44, previously received a felony DUI conviction and is a felon who is suspected to be in possession of a firearm.
